living with EDS or hypermobility often means navigating a body that doesn’t always follow the rules - joints move too far, muscles are always trying to overcompensate, and pain or fatigue can show up in unpredictable ways. it can be hard to find bodywork that feels helpful, and safe, without making everything feel worse.

that’s where i come in.

i’m jude (they/them), a licensed massage therapist based in doylestown, offering mobile massage across bucks county, montgomery county, and philadelphia. i specialize in working with complex, sensitive, and neurodivergent bodies, especially folks with chronic pain, hypermobility, and trauma histories.

how can massage therapy help someone with ehlers-danlos syndrome or hypermobility?

for people with ehlers-danlos syndrome, massage therapy can help:

  • reduce muscular tension and spasms from overuse or guarding

  • encourage proprioception and body awareness

  • improve circulation and lymph flow

  • increase parasympathetic nervous system regulation (a.k.a. calming the body)

  • support the body in healing from subluxations or injuries

  • build trust and connection in your body in a gentle, collaborative way

i use slow, responsive techniques that never force or overstimulate. we work together to find what feels good and helpful, not what pushes past your limits.

what to expect from a massage session for clients with EDS

whether you see me for mobile massage in your own space or come to my cozy office in doylestown, your session will be grounded in consent and collaboration. we’ll start by talking through your symptoms, goals, and any precautions or needs.

i use a variety of techniques with clients who have EDS. this complex condition requires a customized approach for every session.

here are some techniques i find myself using often with clients who have EDS:

  • myofascial release - helps reduce fascial adhesions, restoring bloodflow and reducing pain

  • gentle deep tissue - can help with muscular cramps and tension

  • resisted range-of-motion work - increases proprioception and bodily awareness, helps to "turn muscles on"

  • swedish-inspired nervous system grounding - induces deep relaxation for bodies that chronically carry too much

if you're someone who's experienced medical trauma, body dysphoria, or touch aversion, we’ll go as slowly and intentionally as needed. your comfort is always the priority.

about the massage therapist

i’m jude (they/them), a licensed massage therapist offering trauma-informed bodywork for queer and neurodivergent folks in bucks county, montgomery county, and philadelphia.

i specialize in working with clients navigating a wide range of experiences, including gender-affirming surgery recovery (like top surgery or hysterectomy), ehlers-danlos syndrome (EDS) and hypermobility, chronic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, trauma and cptsd, anxiety, depression, nervous system dysregulation, autism, adhd, autoimmune conditions, and post-surgical healing.

as a queer and neurodivergent person myself, i understand how rare it can be to find care that feels safe, collaborative, and non-pathologizing. i’ve worked with clients recovering from surgery, living with chronic illness, navigating shutdowns or sensory overwhelm, and moving through deep trauma.

my approach to massage is gentle, consent-based, and always guided by your needs. you’re the expert on your body, and i’m here to support whatever feels right for you.

frequently asked questions about massage therapy and ehlers-danlos syndrome/hypermobility

will massage make me more unstable?

while it's hard to predict how your body is going to react, i avoid aggressive stretching, joint traction, or overworking joints. instead, i focus on stabilizing muscles, calming the nervous system, and supporting healthy movement. as we continue to work together and find out more about how your body responds to different techniques, we can adapt our session to tailor treatment to your needs.

can you help if i’m in a pain flare?

absolutely. i’ll adapt the session based on where you’re at that day. even gentle touch or just being still together can help your body shift into a more restful state.

do you work with people who’ve had surgeries for eds?

definitely. i've worked with clients who have had a variety of surgeries as a result of their eds, such as spinal fusions. i can support surgical recovery with scar tissue work, gentle mobilization, encouraging circulation and lymph flow, and postural support. â€‹

how does mobile massage work?

i come to you in your home, office, studio, or other space. all you need is a quiet space big enough for a massage table (about 6x10 feet). i’ll bring the table, sheets, oil, and everything else we need. it’s a low-stress, cozy way to get bodywork without having to leave your home.

what if i’m new to massage or feeling nervous?

that’s totally normal, and i do everything i can to make it a gentle and supportive experience. we’ll go over everything beforehand, and you can always ask questions, adjust the session, or stop at any time. my goal is to help you feel safe and listened to throughout.

how do i book a session with you?

you can fill out my appointment request form, which gives me all the information i need to help you get scheduled. if you’d rather connect first, feel free to email me at jude@bodycraft.love or text 215-360-3435.
